Northrop Grumman Italia is the is the Italian Subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, specializing in PNT (Position Navigation and Timing) solutions for Airborne, Land, Space, and Missile applications.
Research, development, engineering, production maintenance and customer support of military navigation solutions and avionics for any domain.
Originally established as Litton Italia in 1961, the business began with the production, assembly and repair of the LN-3 Inertial Platform at the Pomezia site.
It joined Northrop Grumman in 2001.
In the early 1970s, as proof of the technological expertise acquired by the company, Litton Italia was awarded the design and development of the Tornado Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). Since then, the company has expanded its operational spectrum and has been an international leader in military navigation. MRCA Tornado, Eurofighter Typhoon, AW-101, H-60, M-346 are just some of the platforms that rely on the performance of Northrop Grumman Italia’s navigation equipment. Northrop Grumman Italia is also an expert in maritime navigation.
The company’s navigation systems are based on fiberoptic gyroscopes and MEMS or solid-state accelerometers.
Some of our recent programs include the US Army’s Black Hawk, the new generation INS for the Eurofighter and the M-346 Advanced trainer. NGI has recently developed two new S-AHRS and AHRS systems currently installed on a Leonardo-built UAV, both of which are ITAR free.
